Hi Jon

Unfortunately errors like this often point to a problem with the Windows installation. Did you ever replace DLL's in the C:\Windows folder (or subfolders of C:\Windows) - for example to prevent Flight Simulator from crashing?

Unfortunately I do believe deleting uiautomationcore.dll is the cause of this problem. At least it's always a name that comes up along with kernalbase.dll which is the DLL crashing in your case. - most likely because it is trying to call UIAutomationCore.dll

You can try copy UIAutomationCore.dll into the EditVoicepack installation folder - this MIGHT work. As far as I have found out last time crashes related to manipulating core Windows system files others have been successfully fixing FSX crashes by placing a specific version of the UIAutomationCore.dll file in the FSX folder, allowing them to leave the standard files in the Windows folders.

As I rely on the Microsoft.NET framework, that in turns relies on Windows, there is unfortunately nothing I can do to work around this. I am not in direct control over the DLLs used at the system level (nor would I ever want to be) :)

For the X version working: That is using an older .NET framework, so it is not unlikely to use the Windows DLLs differently. For why the XL version worked before, I do not know. Maybe a Windows update changed something.

Looks like problem solved; ran a SFC/SCANNOW system check as administrator reinstalled XL and its now working fine.

Maybe useful fix for others if they experience system issues.

Thanks for the support Lars (btw I lived in Den Haag for 6 years in the 90s and my daughter still does)

OK, good hint - I was not even aware of that command. I tend to reinstall Windows at the slightest hint of suspicious behavior, as I after a repair would be wondering at every single programming error after that if it - maybe - was due to the repair not being complete. Luckily Windows 7 and 8 are quite stable, so I have not had to do this for years. :)

I arrived in Amsterdam in '97. Planned to stay in the Netherlands for a few years... still here... :)
