Danish Base Scenery
From FSOnline.dk
Danish Base Scenery for Flight Simulator 2004 contains precise coastlines, forests, roads, and cities for all of Denmark.
The precise landscape makes it possible to perform VFR flights, no matter if you are navigating in a familiar area or using a map.
As Danish Base Scenery is georeferenced it functions as a base scenery for other scenery addons requiring precise landscape for the included buildings, runways, taxiways, and aprons.
[edit] Using Danish Base Scenery with slow computers
As Danish Base Scenery is extremely detailed older computers might have problems running the scenery efficiently - specifically if only a limited amount of RAM is installed. Typical performance problems would be:
- Slow start-up when starting a flight.
- Blurry landscape - wither the landscape remains blurry or it will take a long time before the landscape becomes sharp when flying fast or slewing.
Unlike what most people believe, low frames per second is not a general problem when running Danish Base Scenery on a slow computer.
It can help to change the Target frame rate under Settings/Display/Hardware. Lowering the value gives a faster rendering of the landscape texture. As it is a personal matter how low you should set Target frame rate you have to try different values until you find the one that suits you best.
If you can't get a satisfactory result you can try to remove some of the details in Danish Base Scenery according to this procedure:
- Remove all the files VTP4_*.BGL and VTP5_*.BGL from the folder Danish Base Scenery Landscape\Scenery
- Install DanClass
- Ensure DanClass has a higher priority than either Danish Base Scenery entry in the scenery area list.
Notice that this modification can lead to autogen objects placed too close to the airports.
If you wish to use the roads and railroads from another scenery, you can also delete the files VTP6_*.BGL.
[edit] Information for Scenery developers
To make creation of georeferenced scenery easier a small tool is included with Danish Base Scenery. This tool allows creation of background maps for use in other design tools using the same electronic map data used for Danish Base Scenery. Please see the readme file included in the Danish Base Scenery zip file for details.
